The E-Tanoda is a mentoring program where high school students from Budapest assist disadvantaged peers through online classes. If possible, each semester begins with a camp featuring various activities, lectures, and professional training. During the camp, learning groups are formed so that mentors and mentees can hold regular weekly online classes throughout the semester. If in-person meetings are not possible, this training is also conducted online.

We use the Microsoft Teams platform, which includes integrated Skype, chat, and file-sharing features, to facilitate learning sessions. The learning materials are created using the #school curriculum development program, which incorporates Tibor Prievara's gamification method to design engaging digital assignments for various topics.

The program's pilot launched in January 2017 with 14 learning groups and 140 conducted lessons. By October 2018, the program had expanded to include 82 participants (44 mentors and 38 mentees) working in 37 learning groups. By 2022, we had collaborated with over 500 students and 250 learning groups, conducting an annual total of 450 lessons!

Our vision is to establish an online mentoring network that employs 21st-century pedagogical tools and methods to effectively support students on the periphery of institutional education.

In addition to improving academic performance, we aim to build bridges between isolated peer groups and provide opportunities for mutual understanding and the formation of valuable human connections.

The program is a joint project of the Foundation for 21st Century Pedagogy and Yettel, in partnership with Microsoft. In 2021-22, we also received support from Eon Hungária (with equipment), HVG (with reward books), and the European Investment Bank (with equipment). Initially, mentees from three locations (thanks to the Szamo Da Noj Association in Gilvánfa and Magyarmecske, and the Szent Márton Caritas Foundation in Alsószentmárton) participated, but now mentees come from all over Hungary, with mentors from more than 20 schools in Budapest.
