Our Year in Stories and Numbers – E-tanoda 2024/2025
By the end of the 2024/2025 school year, we once again closed a dynamic and achievement-filled year in the E-tanoda programme. This year, 78 mentors applied, and 60 learning groups were launched - 51 of which successfully completed the school year, making this our best result so far!
The strength of the community is reflected in the fact that we held 20 mentor trainings, including two full-day in-person supervisions and numerous smaller online sessions, amounting to a total of 49 training hours.
E-tanoda continued to grow this year as well: 6 university student volunteers, 3 adult mentors, 1 intern from ELTE, and 5 curriculum developers contributed to the programme, supported by two part-time staff members (funded through the Romaversitas, Erasmus, and CERV grants). Altogether, we delivered 1,177 teaching hours and organised multiple community events and trainings.
For the first time, E-tanoda was also represented at the Civil Island of the Sziget Festival, where festivalgoers had the chance to learn about the programme and explore the other projects of the Foundation for 21st Century Pedagogy, including trying out our own educational apps and games.
Based on mentor feedback, the key areas of development this year were:
- Communication skills: more conscious and clear expression when interacting with mentees.
- Explanation skills: more structured thinking and clearer explanations in teaching situations.
- Time management: improved efficiency in organising sessions and preparing for them.
- Empathy: better understanding of mentees’ feelings and circumstances.
- Digital competencies: more intentional use of Teams, online materials, and file sharing.
- Teaching skills: giving constructive feedback and shaping the learning paths of mentees.
- Social awareness: recognising and understanding the differences between urban and rural contexts.
We are also delighted that two new PhD research projects will begin in the 2025/26 academic year, both building on the experiences and impact of E-tanoda - showing that our programme inspires not only students but the professional field as well.
This year once again proved that the E-tanoda community learns, teaches, and grows together - while every participant takes one small step closer to believing in the power of knowledge, empathy, and community.
