In January, the Creative Contemporary Mentor Communities project, implemented within the framework of the Our Common Values Programme, comes to a close. However, the collaboration has also produced a new result: the JOGOS! legal awareness print-and-play card game, which now enriches the toolkit of E-mentoring

JOGOS! guides young people in a playful and humorous way through the process of distinguishing between lawful and unlawful situations, and shows them how they can consciously exercise their fundamental rights. During the game, participants step into the shoes of residents of an apartment building, where they encounter everyday yet often familiar conflict situations. The decisions they make in these stories have consequences, so the game not only encourages critical thinking but also helps young people learn to stand up for themselves and for others.

Five university students participated in the development of the game: Amina Flóra Gulics, Mendel Jankovics, Eszter Keresztesi, Laura Márta Lőkös, and Zsófia Sándor-Dombay, who worked together on the concept and testing with backgrounds in pedagogy, psychology, and media design. The diversity of the team was special in itself: they came from different academic fields and levels of study – bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs – bringing a variety of perspectives and experiences to the collaboration.

The team jointly developed the ideas and mechanics of the game and then tested it with students to ensure that JOGOS! would become a clear, engaging, and educational tool. Throughout the development process, the goal was for the game to be thought-provoking, easy to use, and capable of sparking meaningful conversations among young people about their rights and everyday situations.

From the E-tanoda team, Lilla Lukács coordinated the process, Zsófia Máthé supported the development and testing phases, the visual design of the game was created by Dorka Kovács (who also provided professional guidance as an experienced game developer), and the professional review of the legal terminology was carried out by Emese Hargita Vörös.

The project not only supported the development of the students involved but also strengthened E-tanoda as an organization: we gained new professional knowledge, new methods, and a community experience that will have a long-term impact on our work.

During the testing phase, more than 100 mentors, mentees, students, and young adults tested the game.

The aim of JOGOS! is to ensure that legal awareness is not an abstract concept but a natural part of everyday thinking and community life.
